Development Approval for our Toorak Townhouses

Our luxury townhouse project in Toorak has recently obtained development approval. The 8 townhouses in Lansell Rd display a highly sophisticated and refined aesthetic befitting their location. ‘New St’ Apartments – Display Suite

The display suite for our ‘New St’ apartment project has been completed – here are a few quick shots.  We are especially delighted with the timeless elegance of the materials palette and detailing.  The restrained simplicity will enable the occupants to personalise their apartment without competing with an overbearing or brash interior.

From ‘Beach house’ to ‘Townhouse’

Our latest townhouse development in Mornington has just received planning approval.  The mews style development of 48 townhouses creates a unique Master-planned community on the Mornington Peninsula.  The architectural design references the surrounding coastal character, and re-interprets the ‘Australian beach-house’ into a townhouse form.  All townhouses have been carefully crafted to create that unique indoor-outdoor […]

“New St” Brighton Apartments

Our latest apartment building in New Street, Brighton has just been launched. The 4 level building contains 45 apartments and a ground level restaurant. The architectural expression of the building is minimal and sophisticated, with a front facade of white glass fins that create a veil over the building – providing privacy to the apartments, while still allowing external […]

London Calling

During a recent trip to London I returned to some of my favourite buildings. The enormously rich architectural heritage never ceases to amaze me – from 20th Century High-Tech to heroic Gothic architecture. PC

‘The Shard’

A recent trip to London to study terrace housing coincided with the opening of the ‘The Shard’ – Renzo Piano’s latest tower and the European Union’s tallest building. While the design and form of the building was disappointing, the viewing deck (at 245m high) did afford a great 360 degree view of the London skyline.

‘Back to the Future’ for Townhouses

In April of this year the McKell Institute published a report entitled “Homes for All”. It outlined a number of recommendations to address the housing supply and affordability crisis that is evident within our cities. The strategies identified were wide ranging, included alternative funding initiatives, changes to government policy, the need for planning reform, and […]

“BIM” Building Information Modelling

Our office has recently completed the transition to a BIM computing environment. BIM, or ‘Building Information Modelling,’  is the latest generation of architectural software that produces ‘intelligent’ 3-dimensional digital models of buildings. These virtual buildings are created with ‘families’ that contain all of the properties of the real objects – for example, a particular ‘door’ […]

New York, New York

While in New York at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair I took the opportunity to visit some of the great buildings and urban-scapes within Manhattan. There is without doubt a vibrancy and excitement to the city that is enhanced by the built environment. The rich architectural heritage combined with carefully considered contemporary buildings creates a […]
